Description

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - Back Shift

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our clients dedicated engineering team. This role offers long-term stability within a well-established and forward-looking business that is currently investing in significant machinery and systems upgrades.

Key Details:

  • Salary: £47,400 per annum (inclusive of allowances)
  • Hours: 4 x 10-hour shifts per week, Monday to Thursday, 11:20 - 21:50
  • Christmas Shutdown: Every year, with annual leave days protected

The Role

  • Perform proactive and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime.
  • Support production teams by addressing breakdowns quickly and effectively.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical engineering issues.
  • Work safely, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and safety at all times.

What We're Looking For

  • A time-served apprenticeship (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience with heavy industrial machinery in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Good physical fitness due to the manual aspects of the role.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of conveyors, gearboxes, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systems.
  • Multiskilled capability across mechanical and electrical disciplines (highly desirable).
  • Familiarity with PLCs, controls, and drives (advantageous).
  • Ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings.
  • Previous sawmilling experience (very desirable).
