Scottish Engineering Awards 2015
The event, which also celebrated the 150th Anniversary of Scottish Engineering, was opened by Tom Sreeves, the industry body’s current President, with additional introductions delivered by Chief Executive, Bryan Buchan. Over 450 delegates, representing a wide range of engineering disciplines from across the Scottish engineering industry, enjoyed this year’s keynote speech from Jeremy Paxman and entertainment from Fred MacAulay. Main Award The main winner of the night was Spirit Aerosystems, one of the world’s largest independent producers of commercial aerostructures. With the Scottish side of its history beginning in the 1930’s when aviation pioneer David McIntyre established Scottish Aviation Ltd in the Ayrshire countryside, the organisation now operates sites in the U.S., U.K., France and Malaysia and employs around 1,000 staff within its Scottish operation. Scottish Engineering/Hammermen Award Each year, Scottish Engineering, in association with the Incorporation of Hammermen, recognises a young engineer who has led a project that benefited his or her company and the industry in general.
