Quality Engineer


We are currently recruiting on behalf of our Global Manufacturing client, who is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team. Based in West Lothian our client is a market leader who prides themselves on delivery products of the highest standard.


Purpose of the Role


As a Quality Engineer, you will manage, co-ordinate and improve all aspects of the internal quality systems department, providing support as necessary on all aspects of the QA systems. Additionally, you will support functions including calibration, corrective actions, document control etc. You will also provide regular formal reports on system performance including internal audits as well as ensuring systems are documented and documentation is followed correctly. You will Champion the principles of IATF16949 and Accredited Management Systems International Standards, Legal or Regulatory requirements on as cross-site basis and interpret, advise and train on the QMS standard as required.


Responsibilities



  • Coordination, analysis and performance of the QMS

  • Supervision of the Quality Systems/QA Technical Administration including the delivery of system-related KPI's and objectives

  • Keep up to date with changes and revisions to IATF16949 and related standards/documents

  • Development of staff in the principles of the QMS and internal audit as required

  • Ensure that all corrective actions and NC's are closed in an effective and timely manner. Report failures to management

  • Identification of improvement opportunities, look for ways to reduce waste in regular operations using a lean approach

  • Identify major non-compliances and repeat/systemic issues of the QMS to management. Trend performance/closure

  • Support for document control/QA system functions such as register maintenance, calibrations and MTR's etc

  • Carry out spot audits and or specific investigations as identified/agreed by Quality Manager

  • Support and delivery of special quality/process investigations as requested by plant management

  • Liaise with managers and other staff as required to progress/audit issues as required

  • Support and co-ordinate with purchasing in the supplier quality management process


Skills and Requirements



  • In-depth technical understanding of the principles of IAFT16949 and general QMS

  • Familiarisation of related international standards ISO9000 series and Core Tools

  • Problem Solving - ability to understand issues and make sound decisions on solutions
