Learning and Development Coordinator Fife
Smith Anderson is the UK's largest manufacturer of paper bags supplying major customers such as McDonald's, Burger King, and Greggs the Bakers. The company operates from a modern manufacturing facility based in Kirkcaldy and is a key player in the local community.
Smith Anderson is a privately owned family business and have come a long way since they established over two hundred years ago. Today they produce two billion paper bags per year but despite this tremendous growth they remain true to their core visions of innovation, quality and service.

The site itself has grown from 160 employees to 250 in the last 5 years alone and they expect this to number to increase further over time. Following a recent investment of over £3 million, they are looking to establish a new Training Academy and take the company on the next stage of its learning and development journey. This will be an on-going project with Smith Anderson looking to provide training and support to their existing staff while also establishing an effective training programme for Smith Anderson employees of the future.

Reporting directly into the Finance Director and working beside the HR Advisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the plans for the Training Academy, providing full support and guidance to senior staff in line with the business needs
  • Liaising with managers to co-ordinate all training requirements
  • Co-ordinating all training certificates, scanning and uploading documentation to personal records
  • Ensuring no training/certificates become out-of-date
  • Designing and delivering the full induction process for all new starts
  • Providing HR administration assistance as required
  • Liaising with 3rd party training providers
  • Resource planning - recruitment for the site, including advertising, screening CVs, arranging interviews and liaising with 3rd party recruitment agencies
  • Providing sound advice to management and staff, in line with company policies
The successful candidate will have the following skills, experience and background:
  • Previous experience in a similar role such as L&D Administrator, L&D Co-ordinator or an HR Advisor whose focus has been L&D
  • Relevant industry experience, ideally within manufacturing/industrial sectors
  • Excellent IT skills, previous experience of CRM and ERP systems
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
