Our established manufacturing client is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Buyer to lead procurement activity across key suppliers and material categories, with a clear focus on cost reduction, supplier performance and support all sourcing activity across the business.
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for purchasing components, materials, and services to ensure they meet the production needs and maintain production continuity. The Senior Buyer will be the escalation point for the team of Buyers and Material Planners.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Managing the relationships of Key Suppliers and Sub-Contractors, measuring performance and working together to improve On-Time delivery and quality
- Sourcing of new Suppliers, negotiating terms to secure favourable agreements on price, quality and delivery schedules
- Deliver cost savings through negotiation, re-sourcing and price reviews
- Manage complex BOMs and material cost structures
- Act as an escalation point for supplier and supply chain issues
- Manage Supplier performance (OTIF, quality, SCARs, KPIs)
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality and Planning on NPD and changes
- Assist in the implementation of process improvement and best practices across the Supply Chain Team
Experience and knowledge required for the role:
- Senior Buyer experience in a manufacturing or engineered environment
- Proven track record of cost reduction and PPV control
- Strong negotiation, commercial and cost analysis skills
- Experience managing supplier performance and contracts
- Comfortable working cross-functionally
- Experience of using ERP/MRP systems and good Excel skills
- Team Player who works well with colleagues
- A solver of problems who always seeks a solution
