Description

We are working with a long-established, globally recognised life sciences organisation that plays a vital role in supporting the development of new medicines and healthcare solutions. They are now looking for a Maintenance Electrician to join their Site Services Engineering team. This is based in East Lothian

This is a varied, hands-on role supporting electrical maintenance across multiple operational and laboratory facilities within the same regional area.


The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, you will be responsible for carrying out electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations across several technically complex sites.

The role operates on a day shift pattern, including evenings, and includes participation in a rotational on-call system.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical repair and maintenance across multiple facilities

  • Install electrical and data wiring systems in line with current regulations

  • Perform fault finding and diagnostic testing

  • Maintain and service electrical plant and equipment

  • Conduct portable appliance testing (PAT) and maintain accurate records

  • Use a computerised maintenance management system to log and manage work orders

  • Support generator testing and equipment restarts

  • Adjust environmental control systems as required

  • Liaise with specialist external contractors and service engineers

  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation of all work completed

  • Provide guidance to site staff on the safe use of electrical systems


About You

You will be a qualified electrician with strong practical experience in a commercial or industrial environment.

Essential:

  • Qualified Electrician with 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

  • Recognised electrical industry qualifications

  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments

  • Full, clean UK driving licence and access to your own transport

  • Willingness to join a rotational out-of-hours on-call system

  • Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage changing priorities and work to tight deadlines

  • Confident communicator with a professional, team-focused approach

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience working with high-voltage systems (if qualified)

  • Experience using maintenance management systems
