Description

Escape Recruitment is supporting a well-established manufacturing business in Perthshire (part of a global group) to recruit a Manufacturing Process Engineer into their Technology team.

This role is primarily project-focused, giving you the space to deliver meaningful manufacturing and process improvement initiatives, while still maintaining a practical connection to quality and shopfloor activity.

The role

You will lead and support defined manufacturing and process improvement projects, including:

  • Delivering process capability improvements, yield enhancement and scrap reduction projects.
  • Supporting scale-up of new products and materials from R&D into production.
  • Leading elements of implementation and ramp-up into volume manufacture.
  • Preparing project documentation, progress updates and risk assessments.
  • Supporting updates to process documentation, work instructions and control plans.

There is a smaller hands-on quality element, providing shopfloor support through sample inspection, containment decisions and operator coaching. This keeps you close to production and helps inform continuous improvement opportunities.

What we are looking for

We are open on level. A strong graduate or early-career engineer will be considered, as well as someone with a few years' experience. Mindset and problem-solving ability are key.

You will ideally have:

  • A degree in Engineering or Science (or equivalent experience).
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments and a passion for process improvement.
  • An analytical, practical approach with the ability to turn issues into improvements.
  • Knowledge of Lean / continuous improvement principles.
  • Confidence working with production teams and engineering stakeholders.

Desirable (not essential):

  • Project coordination or project engineering experience.
  • Background in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, production engineering or R&D implementation.
  • Materials, physics and/or chemistry exposure.

Why apply

  • Join a growing manufacturing business with strong global backing.
  • Work in a supportive, technically capable team.
  • Gain exposure to varied, meaningful improvement projects.
  • No long-hours culture and a sensible working pattern.

Working pattern

  • 37 hours per week
  • Mon-Thu: 8.15am-4.45pm
  • Fri: 8.15am-1.15pm
  • On-site role in Perthshire, with limited home working available after training and 6-month probation.

  • Stage 2: On-site interview with factory / shopfloor tour
