We're looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor based in Lanark to join a busy industrial site, supporting operational teams in maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and compliance. This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with site leadership, helping to develop a positive safety culture while ensuring compliance with UK legislation and recognised management systems.
The Role
As the site's Health & Safety Advisor, you'll be responsible for:
- Providing expert health and safety advice to site management and operational teams.
- Promoting a positive behavioural safety culture across the site.
- Supporting and maintaining ISO 45001 health and safety management systems.
- Leading and participating in internal audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
- Investigating incidents, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Chairing Health & Safety meetings and producing regular performance reports.
- Managing contractor safety, inductions and compliance.
- Carrying out routine site inspections and monitoring health and safety performance.
- Supporting major maintenance shutdowns and ensuring safe execution of planned work.
- Liaising with external bodies and supporting regulatory compliance where required.
About You
You'll ideally have:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum).
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety role within manufacturing, power generation, heavy industry or a similar operational environment.
- Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience with ISO 45001 management systems.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Incident investigation experience (desirable).
- Internal auditing experience or auditing qualification (advantageous).
- Membership of a recognised Health & Safety professional body is beneficial.
