Description

Machine Operator / Trainee Brake Press Operator - Carnwath

Location: Carnwath, South Lanarkshire
Full-time | Permanent

We are recruiting for an established engineering and fabrication business in Carnwath who are looking to add a Machine Operator / Brake Press Operator to their production team.

Previous brake press experience would be welcomed, however, you do not need to be an experienced Brake Press Operator to be considered.

The company is happy to train and develop someone who already has good hands-on machine operating experience within a metal, engineering, fabrication or manufacturing environment and is keen to learn press brake operation.

The role

You will work within a busy fabrication environment, initially using your existing machine operating skills while receiving training and development on CNC hydraulic press brake machinery.

As your experience develops, you will learn to:

  • Set and operate CNC hydraulic press brake machinery
  • Work from engineering drawings and production information
  • Select appropriate tooling and bending methods
  • Produce accurate folded metal components
  • Check finished components using measuring equipment
  • Make machine adjustments to achieve the required dimensions and quality
  • Carry out basic machine checks
  • Work safely within a busy engineering and fabrication environment

What we're looking for

We would be interested in speaking with candidates who have either:

  • Previous press brake or brake press operating experience

OR

  • Good machine operating experience gained within a metal, fabrication, engineering or similar manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with industrial production machinery
  • A practical, mechanically minded approach
  • Good attention to detail and an understanding of quality
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • The ability to work safely as part of a production team

Experience reading engineering drawings, working with sheet metal, CNC machinery or using measuring equipment would be advantageous, but training can be provided for the right person.

This is a permanent, workshop-based position in Carnwath (ML11), so please consider the location and your ability to travel to the site before applying.

If you have a background in machine operation, engineering or metal fabrication and are looking for an opportunity to develop your skills further, please apply with an up-to-date CV.
