Senior Environmental & Sustainability Advisor - Contract

Location: Glasgow
Contract: 6 Months
Rate: £328.80 per day
Full-time

We are recruiting an experienced Environmental & Sustainability professional for an initial 6-month contract with an established industrial organisation in Glasgow.

This is a hands-on Environmental role and not a general Health & Safety position.

The priority is to find someone who can come into the business, take ownership of the environmental function and lead the development of an Environmental Management System towards ISO 14001 accreditation.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
  • Developing Environmental Aspects & Impacts
  • Reviewing and developing environmental legal and compliance registers
  • Identifying gaps and putting the required environmental procedures and controls in place
  • Preparing the organisation for ISO 14001 accreditation
  • Managing environmental compliance and supporting regulator engagement
  • Carrying out environmental audits and inspections
  • Supporting sustainability, carbon reduction and environmental improvement activities
  • Working with operational and engineering teams to improve environmental performance

What We Need

We are looking for an experienced Environmental professional who can work independently and make an immediate impact.

You should have:

  • Previous hands-on experience developing and implementing an ISO 14001 EMS
  • Experience taking an organisation towards ISO 14001 certification/accreditation
  • Practical experience of Environmental Aspects & Impacts
  • Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and compliance
  • Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, energy, construction or other industrial environment
  • A recognised Environmental qualification
  • The confidence and experience to take ownership of the environmental agenda

Experience of sustainability, carbon reduction or Net Zero programmes would also be beneficial.

This opportunity would particularly suit an Environmental Contractor, Consultant, Interim Environmental Manager or Senior Environmental Advisor who is immediately available or approaching the end of an existing assignment.

Rate: £328.80 per day
Initial contract: 6 months.
