Are you an experienced procurement professional who enjoys leading people, building relationships and being close to the business?
Escape Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established Scottish operation to appoint a Procurement Team Leader, reporting to the Head of Procurement you will lead and mentor a team of Category Buyers and Administrators.
This is a varied position where you will combine team leadership and category management with the day-to-day procurement needs of the business. You will be comfortable juggling priorities, solving problems and working closely with stakeholders across the organisation.
The role:
- Lead, support and develop the Procurement Team, providing coaching, mentoring and direction.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across all areas of the Scottish Operations, understanding their needs and managing expectations.
- Manage key supplier relationships, sourcing activity, commercial negotiations and contracts.
- Develop and deliver procurement strategies across a range of spend categories.
- Use P2P data and Excel to identify cost savings, efficiencies and opportunities to improve procurement.
- Oversee day-to-day procurement activity, ensuring it is efficient, compliant and commercially focused.
- Drive continuous improvement and look for better ways of doing things.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment no two days are likely to be quite the same.
- Support the Head of Procurement with strategic initiatives and act as deputy when required.
Experience and knowledge required for the role:
- Experienced in procurement, category management, supplier management and P2P procurement processes.
- Previous experience of managing and mentoring a team
- A strong relationship builder who enjoys working with stakeholders rather than simply managing a procurement process from the sidelines.
- Commercially minded, with strong negotiation and decision-making skills.
- Previous experience of managing and mentoring a team
- Confident and credible, with the presence to lead the team, influence stakeholders and make decisions.
- Naturally curious and someone who asks questions and wants to understand the bigger picture.
- Comfortable managing competing priorities and getting involved in the detail when needed.
- Confident using P2P, Excel and other Microsoft packages to analyse and present data.
- Passionate about developing people and getting the best from a team.
