Description

Escape Recruitment is recruiting for a hands-on Buyer to join the procurement team of a well-established manufacturing business.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in engineering or technical manufacturing who enjoys the day-to-day challenges of procurement, from sourcing components and negotiating with suppliers to keeping materials flowing and production on track.

You will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure the right materials are available at the right time, quality and cost.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Sourcing materials, components and services, obtaining competitive quotations and negotiating pricing and terms.
  • Processing purchase requisitions, raising purchase orders and managing supplier acknowledgements.
  • Monitoring and expediting orders to ensure materials arrive on time and production schedules are maintained.
  • Building strong supplier relationships, monitoring performance and addressing any issues with cost, quality or delivery.
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing and supplier information within the ERP system, including lead times and material data.
  • Working with multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs) to understand material requirements and support production planning.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce costs, improve value and develop the supplier base.
  • Working closely with engineering, production and other internal teams to resolve supply issues and support business requirements.
  • Supporting new product development and technical requirements where needed.

Experience and knowledge required for the role:

  • Previous experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role within a manufacturing environment, ideally engineering or mechanical manufacturing.
  • A good understanding of operational procurement, supplier management and purchasing processes.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems and working with Bills of Materials.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the confidence to negotiate and challenge suppliers when needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications would be highly advantageous
  • Good numerical, analytical and IT skills, including Excel.
  • A practical, hands-on approach, with excellent organisation and attention to detail.
  • Someone with a strong work ethic who takes ownership, follows things through and works well with others.

Why Apply?

  • Support for professional development, including CIPS study.
  • Hybrid working, with three days per week on-site following an initial training period.

If you are an experienced Buyer who understands manufacturing, enjoys working with technical products and takes pride in keeping things moving, please send your CV today!
